Mantra Terms of Service

Effective Date: 17th of August, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Mantra (“the App”), a journaling and note-taking application developed and published by Evenzero (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By installing, accessing, or using Mantra, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using Mantra, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms
  • You accept and agree to be bound by these Terms
  • You are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction)

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Mantra is a privacy-focused journaling application that enables you to:

  • Create, organize, and search personal notes and thoughts
  • Store data locally on your device with end-to-end encryption
  • Optionally sync your encrypted data via Google Drive or your own cloud infrastructure using SSH
  • Format text using Markdown and LaTeX
  • Work offline with full functionality

Mantra is designed to operate offline-first, with all core features available without an internet connection.

3. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Evenzero grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Install and use Mantra on devices you own or control
  • Access and use the features of the App for personal, non-commercial purposes

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
  • Attempt to circumvent any security or authentication mechanisms

4. User Content and Data Ownership

4.1 Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you create, store, or sync using Mantra (“Your Content”). This includes:

  • Notes, journal entries, and text
  • Any data you choose to sync to third-party services

4.2 Local Storage

By default, Your Content is stored locally on your device and encrypted using industry-standard encryption methods.

4.3 Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you choose to enable sync:

  • Google Drive sync: Your encrypted data is stored in your personal Google Drive account under your control
  • SSH sync: Your encrypted data is transmitted to and stored on infrastructure you provide and manage

We do not have access to Your Content. Encryption keys are generated on your device and are not transmitted to or stored by Evenzero.

4.4 No Evenzero Storage

Evenzero does not operate servers that store Your Content. We do not access, process, or retain any of your notes, entries, or personal information.

5. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of Mantra is governed by the Evenzero Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Key points:

  • We do not collect or store your personal data
  • Your Content remains on your device or within third-party services you control
  • We do not track, profile, or sell your data
  • No ads, no analytics, no third-party trackers

6. Third-Party Services

Mantra may integrate with third-party services you choose to use, including:

  • Google Drive for optional cloud sync
  • Google Sign-In for authentication (if applicable)
  • SSH servers you provide for custom sync

Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. Evenzero is not responsible for the practices, policies, or performance of third-party services.

7. Encryption and Security

7.1 End-to-End Encryption

Mantra uses end-to-end encryption to protect Your Content. Encryption and decryption occur exclusively on your device.

7.2 Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • Safeguarding your device and any encryption keys or passwords
  • Maintaining backups of Your Content
  • Securing access to any third-party sync services you use

Important: If you lose access to your encryption keys or passwords, Evenzero cannot recover Your Content.

7.3 No Guarantee

While we implement strong security practices, no system is completely secure. You use Mantra at your own risk.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use Mantra to:

  • Store or transmit illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on the intellectual property or privacy rights of others
  • Distribute malware, viruses, or harmful code
  • Harass, stalk, or harm others

Evenzero reserves the right to terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms.

9. Payments and Subscriptions

9.1 Free and Paid Features

Mantra may offer:

  • A free version with core features
  • Optional paid features, upgrades, or one-time purchases (e.g., premium fonts, advanced sync options)

9.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed by third-party platforms (e.g., Google Play, Apple App Store). Evenzero does not handle or store payment information.

9.3 Refunds

Refund eligibility is determined by the platform through which you made your purchase, subject to their policies.

9.4 Changes to Pricing

We reserve the right to modify pricing at any time. Changes will not affect purchases already made.

10. Updates and Modifications

10.1 App Updates

We may release updates to improve functionality, security, or compatibility. You are encouraged to install updates promptly.

10.2 Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective Date.” Continued use of Mantra constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10.3 Feature Changes

We reserve the right to add, modify, or discontinue features at our discretion, with or without notice.

11. Disclaimers

11.1 “As Is” Basis

Mantra is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation

11.2 No Liability for Data Loss

While Mantra is designed with data integrity in mind, Evenzero is not liable for:

  • Loss of Your Content due to device failure, user error, or third-party service issues
  • Corruption or inaccessibility of encrypted data
  • Failures in sync or backup functionality

You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Evenzero and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Damages arising from your use or inability to use Mantra

In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid to Evenzero in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or ₹500 INR (whichever is greater).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Evenzero from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of Mantra
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Your Content

14. Termination

14.1 By You

You may stop using Mantra at any time by uninstalling the App and deleting Your Content.

14.2 By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Mantra if you violate these Terms, without notice or liability.

14.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your license to use Mantra ends immediately
  • You remain responsible for any obligations incurred prior to termination
  • Provisions related to ownership, disclaimers, and liability survive termination

15. Export Compliance

You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations. You may not use Mantra in any country subject to embargo or export restrictions.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

16.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.

16.2 Jurisdiction

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Mantra shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [Your City/State], India.

16.3 Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at suraj@evenzero.in to seek informal resolution.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Evenzero Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Evenzero regarding your use of Mantra, superseding any prior agreements.

19. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
